Named after Samuel Beatty, Beattyville was established in 1843 along the forks of the Kentucky River. Through the years, the town has thrived on its coal production. Not a place to shy away from fun, Beattyville is home to the Lee County Fair, The Woolly Worm Festival, and the "Christmas Spirit" Festival. Year-round, a number of recreational activities can be enjoyed at the Lee County Park, the Beattyville Christian Church Activities Center, and the Lee County Baseball Field. Once you've experienced the beauty and serenity that Beattyville has to offer, you're not likely to look at other towns in quite the same light.
